Reconstruction of the Central Train Station

End of 2008 - 2014

The train station in Salzburg served as a border train station for passengers traveling to Germany for many years. Many lines ended at Salzburg Train Station. The new train station is designed as a through station to improve the connections from west to east. It will be optimally integrated in the trans-European network from Paris and Stuttgart via Vienna to Bratislava (TEN 17).

A total of 300,000 m² of soil will be excavated to make room for the pedestrian underpass, the heart of Salzburg's new train station. The barrier-free underpass, equipped with a guidance system for the blind, is to be completed by 2013. It will provide access to the platforms and connect the districts of Schallmoos and Elisabethvorstadt.

The precious murals uncovered in the course of reconstruction will be integrated in the new station.

The former service counter is closed due to renovations. Service areas (ticket counter, railway information, tourist Info) are now located on the station forecourt. Listen for public address announcements and follow the signs.
