The Toihaus in Salzburg has been a fixture in Salzburg's theater scene for 20 years. Its program includes the theater's own compositions inspired by contemporary and topical themes, adaptations and the staging of texts ranging from lyric poetry to novels, premiere productions by contemporary and often unknown playwrights and music compositions. The building's characteristic style is marked by the interaction between theater, dance, language, music, mime, visual art and the new media.
Theater for toddlers and young children
Adults are not the only ones who appreciate the professionalism of the art forms and standard of topics and content. The Toihaus uses the same degree of professionalism in its children's theater for children 18 months or older. A successful concept: a large number of young people attend the evening performances and many adults want to see the children's plays.
The "BIM BAM" theater festival - international theater weeks for toddlers and young children - is held every two years. The Toihaus is one of the pioneers of this genre in Austria. Nearly every category of art can be found at the theater for toddlers and young children: movement theater, object theater, narrative theater, musical theater, dance theater, multimedia theater, etc.
Theater on Mirabell Square
The Toihaus Theater in Salzburg was founded in 1984 and completely refurbished in 2000. Visitors to the Wilhelminian style building near the Mirabell Gardens will find a beautiful, modern theater on the ground floor seating 60 to 70 people.
