The Sound of Music - Musical
October 23, 2011 - May, 2014
The legendary "The Sound of Music" musical had its premiere at the Salzburger Landestheater on October 23, 2011. The story of the novice, Maria, who comes to work for the Trapp Family as a governess just before World War II, marries the widower, Georg von Trapp, and becomes famous with the family choir, has been world-famous since the 1965 movie. Whereas thousands of tourists relive the story of Maria von Trapp each year, visiting the film locations where Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer sang, danced and played, the movie and its cult status were largely unknown to the population in Austria and Salzburg for many years.
