The Siemens Fest>Spiel>Nächte were founded by Siemens Austria in collaboration with the Salzburg Festival and the Austrian Broadcasting Company (ORF Salzburg) with the aim of utilizing modern technologies to make art and culture accessible to a wider audience. The Summer Festival's highlights are broadcast on a large screen set up on Chapter Square each day for a period of five weeks.
Open-air classical music
The Siemens Fest>Spiel>Nächte have become a fixture of the Salzburg Summer Festival. Over 2,000 people enjoy the "Free Festival" on Kapitelplatz each day. Performances and opera highlights from the past as well as productions and live broadcasts of the current festival season are presented with free admission.
Operas are broadcast at 8:00 p.m. Concerts from the Salzburg Festival can be heard on Kapitelplatz starting at 6:00 p.m. Spatial simulation is provided by means of a modern sound system with speakers set up around the audience to provide the best acoustics for the square.
