Tips for Festival Fans
July 20 – September 2, 2012
The Salzburg Festival is one of the most famous and prominent music festivals in the world. Its program offers a unique blend of traditional and modern pieces: spectacular premieres, new productions of classic dramas and the most beautiful theater, opera and concert performances. Internationally famous stars such as Anna Netrebko, Lang Lang, Rolando Villazón and Riccardo Muti draw culture buffs and the high society to Salzburg each summer.
There is a high demand for Festival tickets. We have put together a few special tips for the Salzburg Festival for those who were unable to get tickets for Jedermann, etc. or for last-minute bookers:

Last-minute Jedermann tickets
Standing room tickets for 5 euros: The standing-room box office in Franziskanergasse opens one hour before each Jedermann performance on Cathedral Square. The standing room tickets are available for 5 euros each, allowing spectators to watch the Festival's traditional play on the left and right of the tiered seats on Cathedral Square. Please note: the tickets are for Cathedral Square only – not for the Large Festival Hall! Extra tip: bring a folding chair and beverages. You will have more shade in the area to the right of the seats!
Festival Ball 2012
The first Festival Ball will take place in the Horse Riding School on September 1, 2012. The opening ceremony will be danced by the young couples wearing long traditional costumes. The festive concert with great stars and the unique setting of the Baroque arcades hewn into the rock of the Mönchsberg will create the atmosphere for an unforgettable ball. The dresscode "evening dirndl and traditional evening suit" reflects the long tradition of wearing traditional costumes among high society ever since the era of emperor Franz Josef I.
