Siemens Festival Nights

The Siemens Fest>Spiel>Nächte were founded by Siemens Austria in collaboration with the Salzburg Festival and the Austrian Broadcasting Company (ORF Salzburg) with the aim of utilizing modern technologies to make art and culture accessible to a wider audience. The Summer Festival's highlights are broadcast on a large screen set up on Chapter Square each day for a period of three weeks.
Nearly 40,000 visitors enjoyed the opera highlights shown in 2008 via state-of-the-art audio/video technology. 70 % of the visitors are Salzburg residents who may be using the opportunity to see their city's Festival for the first time.

Open-air classical music

The Siemens Fest>Spiel>Nächte have become a fixture of the Salzburg Summer Festival. Over 2,000 people enjoy the "Free Festival" on Chapter Square each day. Performances and opera highlights from the past as well as productions from the current festival season are presented with free admission.
Operas are broadcast at dusk, at 9:15 p.m. Concerts from the Salzburg Festival can be heard on Chapter Square starting at 7:30 p.m. Spatial simulation is provided by means of a modern sound system with speakers set up around the audience to provide the best acoustics for the square.

Tip
The sold-out premiere of "Così fan tutte" (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) will be broadcast live for time-shifted viewing on July 30.

Siemens Children's>Festival

The Siemens Children's>Festival was founded to make culture accessible to the youngest listeners. Children's opera films are shown at the University of Salzburg. Siemens Austria has promoted art and culture for children and teenagers for over 10 years. Admission is also free.
