Golf in Salzburg
Salzburg is not just an internationally famous venue for art and culture; it is also famous for sport. Golf-lovers, above all, find Salzburg the perfect setting for a stylish game: the City of Mozart is certainly one of the world's 'loveliest club houses'. The increasing popularity fo gold as a relaxing sport has led to a considerable growth in the driving and putting facilities in the immediate environs of the city.
If you believe playing golf has no tradition in Salzburg - you could not be more wrong. As early as in the 30s of last century, the high society gathered here, to enjoy this brilliant game and the social life that it brought with it.
The attraction of golf has never since diminuished, in the contrary its popularity is getting bigger: spending time close to nature and enjoying the game and every single good stroke. The whole province of Salzburg offers a total 14 golf courses for both experienced players and beginners.
Only a few minutes away from the city center, you will find the most 'baroque' of all Salzburg golf courses. Located in the park of Klessheim Palace, amidst beautiful alleys, the 9-whole course has a 'magical touch', which is also why during the Salzburg Festival season golf tournaments are held in this unique setting. The other 13 golf clubs with their beautiful scenery are located at Eugendorf, Eugendorf/Kraiwiesen, Rif, Fuschl, Fuschl/Waldhof,
Henndorf, Bad Gastein, Zell am See, Saalfelden, Saalfelden/Urslautal, Radstadt, Goldegg, St. Michael and Mittersill. Set in the unique landscape of the Alps they all promise an unforgettable experience to golf enthusiasts.
