Swimming in Salzburg
What could be more fun than starting your vacation with a dip in the pool? Or ending a day of sightseeing and shopping with a few laps in the outdoor pool? The city of Salzburg has three, centrally-located outdoor pools that open on the first of May each year. The Paracelsus Pool & Spa next to the Mirabell Gardens is open all year. Those who have a car or bike can drive out to Waldbad Anif, an idyllic lake in the woods, or out to the Salzach Lake north of the city center for a cool, refreshing dip.

The Volksgarten Pool on Hermann Bahr Promenade is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from May 1 to September and is popular with people of all ages.
The Leopoldskron Pool, affectionately called the "Lepi" by the Salzburg residents, is a real adventure – especially for children and teenagers. It is right next to Leopoldskron Palace. The Leopoldskron Pool was built in the mid-1960s on over 53,000 square meters of landscaped area. It was continuously modernized and is barrier-free.
The outdoor pool in Alpenstrasse, also called the "Aya Bad", has a heated 25 meter pool for swimmers and a large pool for non-swimmers. The facility also has a separate areas for volleyball and table tennis . In addition to the playground, a 50 square meters wading pool with an integrated slide is available for small children.

Lakes on the outskirts
The world-famous Salzkammergut is not far away but you don't have to go very far to enjoy a quick dip in the lake. The 22,000 square meters Salzach Lake in the district of Liefering also has a spacious sunbathing lawn and restaurant. The lake, recharged by groundwater, offers plenty of room to swim and is up to three meters deep. Free admission!
The idyllically located Waldbad Anif is much more than just a swimming lake: the extras include a 400-meter deck, a diving trail, a children's climbing park, beach volleyball and boccia courts and even free Internet access, laptop charging stations and fine dining.
