Hip-Hop Scene Salzburg
Street Dance - Break Dance

Aside from classical music, the city of Salzburg is increasingly becoming a center for modern dance and youth culture. Whether you're a viewer or a doer: a variety of courses and events are held in this field throughout the year. A small selection:

Culture Space
Since 2005, the Culture Space program has given youths an opportunity to attend workshops in break dance, street dance for girls, DJ culture, audio production, radio and rap at the ARGEkultur. The ARGEkultur provides the infrastructure and notable practitioners. A big party is held at the end of the semester-project featuring showings by all participants at the ARGE.

Street Dance Center Salzburg
The Street Dance Center Salzburg, established in 1999, offers a variety of different courses including street dance and break dance. The new style courses teach the basics of different urban styles such as waving, house, tutting or dancehall. The Dance Center gives children, youths and adults a chance to express their enthusiasm for dance on different levels. The ultimate goal is to awaken a joy of dancing and movement, to promote young talents and to further develop the hip-hop culture. Performances at the Salzburg Street Dance Center can be seen during a number of events, e.g. the World Milk Night in Salzburg. Various international prizes have already been won on behalf of the Street Dance Center during international contests.

Interdance Dance Center
Interdance is an intercultural dance center established in Salzburg by Fernando Motta Jara in 2009. It was born of the idea to create a place where different styles of dance come together. This idea is reflected in the wide range of courses offered: the young center for dance, movement and health offers courses from around the world including yoga, Latin dance, Zumba, tap dance, hip-hop and Capoeira.

Regular dance events featuring hip-hop, street dance and breakdance are held at the ARGEkultur, the Jazz-it, at SEAD, during the Easter Dance Days and the Fall Dance Days.
