Teppichweberei Weiß
Information
Even the great-grandfather of the current owner, Rupert Weiss, was a carpet- and linen-weaver in his own right, with a workshop in the Getreidegasse – though in those days, still without a retail outlet, which would not be opened by his father until around 50 years ago. Located here to this day are both the store and the workshop, containing old looms capable of producing carpets as much as 400 cm in width. The interior of this enchanting shop is characterized by its exceptionally warm and cozy atmosphere. An historic loom and the splendid country furniture catch the visitor’s eye immediately.
Their product selection includes beautiful hand-woven carpets: the so-called “fishbone carpets” (monochrome natural sheep’s wool, woven in a fishbone pattern and available in a range of colors) are particularly original, as are their “Exclusive Carpets” (using a special technique, single- or multi-colored wools are woven in an exceptionally dense pile). Their linen towels are also highly popular, as are aprons, cushions and padded slippers made of patchwork carpet with felt soles.
Opening hours:
Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
