Café Wernbacher
Café Wernbacher
Information
In 1953, 17 years after the premises were opened as a coffee house, the Wernbacher Family took over the fortunes of this establishment, which was also to become the home of Salzburg’s first discotheque, the “Scotch Club”, during the 60’s and 70’s. Affectionately nicknamed the “Wernbacher” by the locals, it continues to exude the cozy, nostalgic atmosphere of its early days, not least because any renovation work was always conducted with an eye to preserving the original structure. Regulars also appreciate the broad selection of newspapers which are available to read.
Their palette of coffee creations ranges from mochas with whipped cream and classic melanges, to milk-coffee, coffee with rum, as well as Italian-inspired specialties. The broad selection of teas is also remarkable. And what better companion than fresh strudels, cake or traditional Austrian pastries. For guests with a bigger appetite, the Wernbacher serves up typical coffee-house fare (e.g. egg dishes, toast, goulash), a lunch menu that changes daily, plus a broad assortment of hearty traditional dishes.
Opening hours:
Monday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 12 a.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
