Information
Tempting samples are generally set out in front of the nostalgic wooden storefront for passers-by to enjoy. Once you have tasted one, it is impossible to resist stepping inside this tiny shop. A very small space, where you will first want to take in the many, often very fragrant smells. Barbara Soukup, a native of Hamburg who took over this shop in 1999 (though it was originally opened in 1892), is the perfect person to answer any questions you might have.

Depending on the season, her fantastic assortment encompasses between 120 and 150 different types of cheese (many of which are organically produced). Overseas visitors, especially, should definitely take advantage of this opportunity to acquaint themselves with the diverse qualities of Austria’s specialty cheeses, long established in the world’s finest restaurants. The owner’s expertise can also be relied on when it comes to the shop’s small collection of wines. The Trausner jams which may be purchased here, are also a carefully guarded secret!

Opening hours:

Saturday 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
