Musikhaus Katholnigg
Information
This building – Salzburg’s biggest urban palais, originally constructed in 1544 under Prince Archbishop Matthäus Lang – has housed an extraordinary shop for music lovers since 1847. Beginning as a piano manufacturer, Katholnigg Music converted exclusively to sales in 1922. Its focus is now on CD’s and DVD’s, offering both classical music, as well as outstanding jazz, chansons, music from a variety of countries, authentic folk music, evergreens, along with literature and cabaret CD’s.
The setting is provided by a magnificent vaulted room with beautiful stone floors. The regularly changing decorative displays of the products are especially popular with the public.
In addition to discussions with guest artists, which take place every year during the summer festival and are followed by autograph signings, as of Summer 2006, Katholnigg also features an original collection of Opera Wines in combination with a diverse assortment of CD’S.
Opening hours:
Monday - Friday 9.30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday 9.30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
