Information
Traditional attire at its best!

In 1949 the young master tailor Marianne Beurle founded her shop in Wels and soon became specialized in the handmade assembly of revived Austrian traditional costumes. 15 years later the first branch of “Werkstätte Beurle” was opened in Salzburg, the center of Austrian traditional fashion. “Werkstätte Beurle” draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of the Austrian tradition. The annual collections are based on solid and sure taste and are continually renewed using fresh color and material combinations. In 2008 “Werkstätte Beurle” has found a new home in Neutorstrasse 23, where it is able to unify both tailoring and point of sale under a single roof. The new shop owner Marlene Stocker crafts new trachten garments by following historic patterns. She is very conscious of tradition, but at the same time she looks beyond her own nose and takes trachten fashion to modern level.

In recognition of its cultural contribution to uphold one of Austria’s most origin traditions, the “Werkstätte Beurle” was bestowed with the privilege of using the official crests of both the states of Salzburg and Upper Austria. Several times a year, “Werkstätte Beurle” holds fashion shows for traditional garments, often in cooperation with the department of cultural traditions at the Salzburg Museum or other cultural centers. “Werkstätte Beurle” also offers courses to help spread the skills of tailoring and the interest in traditional costumes.
