Grete and Leopold Gössl began to produce and distribute blouses in Grödig in 1947. The story of success of the so-called "pfoads" has culminated in a line of high-quality trachten that is extremely popular in the German-speaking countries and beyond. Gössl, a traditional Salzburg enterprise with over 30 shops and more than 150 distributors, has become an established name among trachten producers. 100,000 outfits are manufactured for men, women and children each year, many of them hand-made. In addition to the traditional dirndl and jackets, the line of products also includes apparel for business, leisure and festive occasions. The offer is rounded off by accessories such as shawls, silk scarves, gloves and handbags.
As a traditionalist who appreciates innovation, Gössl skillfully toys with the duality of his brand, under the credo: "As much tradition as possible and as much innovation as necessary.“ This guarantees the brand's authenticity and originality. Gössl launched his exclusive "Gössl Edition" line in the spring of 2009. It was so successful that the "Gössl Edition 2" is in the making. Gössl had the former Schlosshotel St. Rupert in Salzburg rehabilitated into the Gwandhaus in 2004. Today the building is used by Gössl as a shop, tailor's shop, restaurant and a notable event and culture venue.
