Old Salt Works Bad Reichenhall

Alte Saline 9
83435 Bad Reichenhall
+498651 7002146
Information
The Old Salt Works already received the title of “Most attractive salt works in the world” in 1846, as the austere quadrangle of buildings, with the main pumping hall and the magnificent spring works chapel, a Neo-Roman style treasure, is unequalled.

Climb down into the widely ramified network of mines and grottos and allow yourself to be led to the origin of salt mining in Bad Reichenhall. Here, you can find out everything about the salt deposits, the tapping of a spring, the origins of processing the “white gold” to this day.
Just as fascinating an insight into the history of salt and the Old Salt Mine, which embodies the historical roots of the city in a special way, is provided by the exhibition on the top floor in four exhibition rooms highlighted in colour.

The tour lasts one hour, after this, the individual viewing of the exhibition. Below ground, a temperature of +12°C prevails throughout the year. No age restriction for children. Unfortunately, dogs and prams cannot be brought along. Special tours are possible by arrangement at any time. Tours also in English, French and Italian.
