The Cathedral Excavations Museum located under Residence Square and Cathedral Square offers insight into architectural history back to Roman times at the site of today's Cathedral. Particularly impressive are a number of archeological finds from a Roman villa, of which various walls, architectural objects, mosaics, channels and heating systems are still preserved. Also on display are foundations and the masonry from the western towers of the Romanesque cathedral built during the late 12th century under Archbishop Conrad III, ravished by fire in 1598.
Excavations of the medieval cathedral and Roman remains.
