The Michael Haydn Museum at St. Peter's Monastery is a small but interesting museum displaying approximately 160 original and reproduced exhibits related to the composer. The exhibition focuses on Haydn as a person who – contrary to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – succeeded in creating an ideal environment for himself in Salzburg. In addition to documents and sheets of music, the museum has a listening station and sound installation playing Michael Haydn's works. The composer wrote a total of 37 masses, 43 symphonies, 19 operas and oratorios while employed by the Salzburg court.

Dramaturgical information backed by sound, color and visual effects invite the visitor to contemplate the objects shown at the exhibition. The museum offers extensive information with a charming event character: to get to know the composer or to deepen one's knowledge.
