Anschluss, War & Ruin – Salzburg and its museum during National Socialism

It has been 80 years since the Anschluss, which absorbed Austria into the German Reich. To mark this event, the Salzburg Museum will be showing an exhibition dedicated to the history of Salzburg between 1938 and 1945.

The Exhibition

The focal point of this exhibition is the history, fate and role of the museum during the war years. The biographies of museum workers back then, and the networks of which they were a part, help visitors better understand the developments of those times.
