Fly Me to the Moon
On July 21, 2019, the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of when humankind first left its footprint on the moon. An excellent reason, in other words, for Museum der Moderne Salzburg to host a special exhibition on that intriguing topic.
50 years since the moon landing
The moon landing altered the relationship between humans and their environment unlike practically any other event in history. The view of Earth from outer space sparked a whole new awareness for the fragility of our existence. The blue planet itself became a symbol of life and its vulnerability.
About the exhibition
The exhibition is a foray through artistic perspectives and interpretations of the moon, looking back on several centuries of fascination with all things lunar. The focus, however, is on the 20th century and present day. Copperplate engravings and paintings are included, as are photography, video art and multimedia installations. A publication in German and English accompanies the exhibition.
- Opening hours: Tue-Sun 10 am - 6 pm, Wed 10 am - 8 pm.
