Leopold Mozart (1719-1787). Musician – Manager – Man

This event has already taken place. Here are the current and upcoming events.

In honor of Leopold Mozart’s 300th birthday, this special exhibition addresses the question: Who was Leopold other than being the father of his world-famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus?

A multifaceted man

Leopold Mozart was a composer, court musician, violinist, teacher, writer, concert organizer and promoter. In addition to that, he was the head of a family, husband and Catholic. An incredibly versatile man, who also provided a productive and loving environment in which his gifted son Wolfgang would thrive.

Exhibition in original rooms

This special 300-year birthday exhibition was designed by Salzburg architect and caricaturist Thomas Wizany and is showing in the rooms of the Mozart Residence on Makartplatz, where the family lived from 1773 on and where Leopold Mozart died on 28 May, 1787.

  • Hours: daily 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; July/August 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
