Reformation500 – Salzburg and Protestantism

31 October 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation initiated by Martin Luther. The Salzburg Museum takes this as the occasion to shed light on the stormy fortunes of Salzburg’s Protestant communities, from the astonishingly rapid proliferation of this new denomination, to the countermeasures taken by the ruling princes – culminating in the mass emigration of 1731/1732 – and the ecumenical dialogue of today.
