Cross-Country Ski Trail: Gaisberg - Oberwinkl
In addition to numerous winter hiking paths, the cross-country ski trail which runs through a popular local recreation area on the Gaisberg is a wonderful highlight for fans of winter sports.
The XC trail on the Gaisberg is located on a sunny high plateau barely ten minutes outside the City of Mozart. It promises a very special type of winter experience: Depending on snow- and weather conditions, the trail is groomed for skiers over a distance ranging between 3 and 5 km. The easy route provides safe terrain above all for beginners. Skiers with more experience can choose whether to use classic or “skating” technique. The trail is operated by an association whose mission is to promote winter sports on the Gaisberg. Winter sportsmen and -women from around the world can use the trail for free and at their own risk.
Directions: In order to reach the trail, please drive in via Elsbethen-Glasenbach, using the Schwaitl-Landesstraße, then take the Vorderfager turn-off in the direction of Gaisbergspitze-Gasthof Mitteregg. Your wintry enjoyment will begin from the car park at the Kriechbaumgut. The parking fee is 4 euro, which you will pay at the trail entrance. Night skiing is not permitted due to safety concerns and in order to protect native wildlife.
