Parking in Salzburg
Because of its geographic location and increasing traffic, parking space in Salzburg is limited. All parking in the city center is short-term parking (time-limited). Please note: Starting July 1, 2026, the Old Town will only be accessible by car in exceptional cases. The most convenient option is to use the Park & Ride facilities and take public transportation to the city center at a low cost.
P+R Parking in Salzburg
In the city of Salzburg, four Park & Ride car parks with more than 4,000 parking spaces are available year-round. The combo ticket for € 15 includes the parking fee as well as a day pass for the entire public transportation network for up to five people traveling together. In July and August, a discounted combo ticket for € 7.50 is available at all four locations.

Salzburg’s Old Town with limited vehicle access
Starting July 1, 2026, car access to the Old Town will be largely restricted. Guests staying at hotels within the Old Town can still arrive by car if their hotel is located within the zone and they have a valid booking confirmation. Your hotel will provide you with specific information on how to access the area. Please check the official City of Salzburg website for full details and the latest regulations before your arrival.

The short-term parking zones in Salzburg are indicated by signs located at the entrance and exit to all parking areas. The blue street markings, which are not required by law, are merely intended to help you find possible parking spaces.

Are parking spaces in the city center outside the restricted zone still accessible?
Yes, all major parking spaces and parking garages in the city center are located outside the restricted zone and remain accessible by car after July 1, 2026. However, driving through the restricted zone is not permitted. To avoid traffic, we recommend using the Park & Ride facilities.
Can people with disabilities drive into the restricted zone and park there?
People with a valid disabled parking permit (according to § 29b of the Austrian Road Traffic Regulations) are exempt from the driving restrictions in the zone starting July 1, 2026. Please check the official City of Salzburg website for full details on the current regulations.
