Wellness Oases in the City of Mozart

After a full day in Salzburg chockablock with culture, shopping and dining out: Clock a few laps in the infinity pool, unwind in the sauna or enjoy the tranquility of a rooftop spa – and all of that in the middle of the city? Come with us on a short wellness timeout and discover a fine selection of glorious feel-good temples in and around Salzburg!

Something good for all your senses

First, we cautiously test the water temperature with the tips of our toes. Perfect. Then we glide from the edge of the pool and succumb to the gentle embrace of the well-tempered water. With a contented sigh, in the infinity pool of Hotel Mönchstein we rotate on our own axis and simultaneously allow our gaze to wander. Stretched out below, the city of Salzburg with the mountain backdrop providing an enchanting contrast to the church towers and rooftops. At our leisure, we wiggle our legs under the water. A day of wellness is a good thing in its own right. A day of wellness in the middle of Salzburg is simply magical!

Above it all: Hotel Mönchstein

You see, a number of true wellness temples are hidden away in the heart of the Salzburg, meaning that a city trip can be combined wonderfully with saunas et al. One of them is the aforementioned Hotel Mönchstein. This five-star-superior hotel is enthroned atop the eponymous city mountain, high above the roofs of Salzburg. The SPA area promises 300 m² of pure luxury, with hotel guests and day visitors both equally welcome. Steam baths, Finnish sauna, relaxation terrace and quiet zone, all ultra-modern and chic. Here, you can escape the gray daily routine for a while and do so in style. That said, the undisputed highlight is that outdoor infinity pool which, during the warm months of the year, invites you to unwind completely. We swim one final lap and take in the fantastic scenery one last time. But then, we are ready to hop up out of the pool and into a plush spa robe. A massage awaits! You see, massages and beauty treatments can also be booked here, for the finishing touches to your wellness enjoyment.

Petit, but très chic: Hotel Auersperg

Creature comforts and the perfect helping of extravagance welcome us at Hotel Auersperg in the trendy Andräviertel district. As the name suggests, the Petit Spa of this hotel isn’t gigantic. But it doesn’t need to be: A snug spot is always available in the spacious lounging area, while out on the flowery rooftop terrace with views of Salzburg you cannot fail to sense a feeling of complete freedom. From the Finnish sauna, we can see the Kapuzinerberg. As we slowly sweat out the stresses of daily life, our eyes rest upon that beautiful, rugged mountain which is also home to chamois. Perhaps we will even catch sight of one of them, who knows. In addition to the sauna, hotel guests also have use of a steam bath. And if you want to do something good for body and soul, we suggest participating in one of the in-house yoga sessions. In addition, they have massage offers along with a relaxed atmosphere guaranteed to kick down the pace of your life a gear or two almost automatically.

Swimming pool in the historic district: Hotel Wolf Dietrich

A family-style city hotel with wellness area in the historic district: 4-star Hotel Wolf Dietrich unites many desirable factors for a successful city vacation. A genuine rarity: the swimming pool with jet stream on the lower level. The Wolf Dietrich is actually the only hotel in the historic district to offer this form of enjoyment. Thanks to its endless-pool features, we can swim here as long as we wish. However, the other areas of this modern wellness oasis are definitely well worth giving a look as well: Finnish sauna, oriental steam bath, infrared cabin and quiet room, all inviting you to relax. Those who wish may book feel-good massages. And right outside the front door of the hotel, the city which itself has so much to offer. What more could your heart desire?

The classic with a new look: Paracelsusbad

Just a stone’s throw from world famous Mirabell Gardens, the new Paracelsusbad attract guests with many highlights. Spectacular: the infinity pool with view of the historic district and Mönchsberg. Part of the sauna facilities, you can relax in the two-section saltwater pool or cool down after a session in the sauna. Apropos sauna: The panorama saunas with view of Hohensalzburg Fortress are definitely unique. If you book a city hotel which does not have its own wellness area, the Paracelsusbad is a real alternative, guaranteeing that fans of wellness find just what they have been craving.

Country outing: wellness hotels close to the city

Also hidden away in communities on the outskirts of Salzburg, such as Wals-Siezenheim, are some genuine pearls of wellness. For example, the new tastefully appointed spa at the popular Laschenskyhof, which promises exclusive moments of pure pampering for hotel guests and visitors to the Day Spa. After time spent in the Finnish panorama sauna or the organic pine sauna, the salt relaxation room with infrared beds is impossible to resist. The way relaxation is meant to be!
Likewise at Hotel Melanie and Hotel Gabi close to the city, the wellness factor plays a big role – from modern sauna world to indoor pool.
Wellbeing as interpreted by Hotel Gerl is wonderfully stimulating: Whether outdoor or indoor pool, yoga or organic sauna, private spa with a partner or best friend – here, wellness dreams come true.
Equally exceptional and close to the city: the spa at the Grünauerhof.
To the northwest of the city, in the idyllic village of Elixhausen, the beautiful wellness area of Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt promises pure peace and relaxation.

Whether in the charming heart of the historic district or surrounded by green countryside just outside the city: At the spa and wellness hotels in and around Salzburg, city trips and regeneration meld into an experience you won’t soon forget.
