Nacera Belaza makes her first guest appearance at the Sommerszene. Her pieces are intense, precise, radically contemporary, spiritual and meditative.
In her production L'Onde, she delves into the world of audiovisual archives, drawing inspiration from recordings of traditional North African dances and rituals. The result is a mesmerising piece for four dancers, including the artist herself, who relate the traditional movement material to her concept of infinity. Driven by a pulsating soundtrack that blends tradition and modernity to the point of indistinguishability, the dancers explore the infinity of space, time and emptiness. A few clearly defined gestures are enough to exert a powerful pull that allows the audience to participate in a lively dialogue between North African and European culture, spirituality and image, movement and imagination.
