buren, shoe farm/prelude, performance
After their successful performance T-Shirt Conversations, which was shown in 2022 as part of the Sommerszene and the Feminist Futures Festival, buren return to Salzburg.
shoe/farm - prelude is a continuation of buren's exploration of social roles and power relations, based on the places where the artists grew up: a farm in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and a shoe shop on the Belgian coast. In glass shoes and sturdy boots, Buren struts and struts across the playing field as if on a catwalk, dressed up with ropes, torn jeans turned inside out and delicate lace curtains. On a farm, worn-out work trousers are evidence of hard labour; in the city, they are a fashion statement.
In the light of broader social questions about production processes, working conditions and consumer habits, they search for what connects these three worlds: the shoe shop with the farm with the world of art. Text in English.
