In the Steingasse you will find a true gem of Salzburg's nativity-scene culture: the AIKO nativity scene is part of the Aichhorn Collection in the Textil-Kunst-Galerie and was created with loving attention to detail. The touching story of its creation, fascinating details and hidden wit will charm all its visitors.

Extraordinary setting

The approximately 300 figures, made by Brigitte Aichhorn-Kosina (AI-KO) over the course of 50 years, are located in a landscape four meters long and three and a half meters high. Memories of the artist and her husband, Ferdinand Aichhorn, can be found in almost every store and person. The alpine nativity town scene is located in the Lofer Mountains, and Ferdinand Aichhorn's family home is also featured.

A touching journey of discovery

The fact that the artist has incorporated herself smoking a cigarette in front of her favourite restaurant or that the Salzburg street newspaper "Apropos" is being sold are just two of many funny and surprising aspects. The figures are exchanged according to the religious celebrations and even Joseph and the pregnant Mary wander through the exhibition room before the birth of Jesus in the manger.
