Ball House
For the 400th anniversary of the Salzburg State Theatre, John von Düffel's play "Ballhaus" will have its world premiere. It combines drama, sports, and ballet, bringing Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to life with a creative framing narrative.
Theater performances, dancing, and sporting activities – all of this was possible in the Ballhaus. For 400 years, theater has been performed in the Mirabell Gardens. The first theater building was constructed in 1625 and was called Ballhaus. In fact, the impressive building with an open roof structure, three galleries, and nearly 50 meters in length served multiple functions, namely as a theater, dance palace, and sports hall.
