Bernhard Lochmann: Panoptikum
The term "panopticum" refers to a cabinet of curiosities or a wonder room. Later, the British Enlightenment thinker Jeremy Bentham used the term for a circularly arranged architecture that he devised for the surveillance of prisoners.
Using the medium of collage and large-format printmaking, Bernhard Lochmann creates his personal panopticum in the Stadtgalerie Lehen. In this exhibition, he uses collage as a recombination roulette.
Here, snippets from countless flea market books and magazines from past decades swirl together. They form new visual narratives that partly create bizarre perspectives on human existence and actions.
