Bethlehem Baby
Jimmy Schlager retells the Christmas story – historically, satirically, and with a keen eye on human weaknesses.
Jimmy Schlager, music satirist from the Weinviertel, examines the Christmas story in “Bethlehem Baby” – historically grounded, but with sharp humor and musical accompaniment. The birth of Jesus is told here beyond kitsch and glorification: a couple without shelter, a child born in a stable, and three men who arrive with gold and myrrh, but without practical help. Schlager exposes human weaknesses such as repression, entitlement, and the pressure of the perfect celebration, without losing sight of the seriousness of the story.
