Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
A magical musical full of adventure and humor about an inventor, his children, and a car that can fly. An unforgettable experience for the whole family with captivating songs.
At the Salzburg State Theatre, the stage adaptation of the musical 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' celebrates its premiere. The play is based on the children's book by Ian Fleming and the eponymous 1968 film, which became world-famous with the music of the Sherman Brothers. The story follows the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts and his children, who transform an old racing car into the magical vehicle Chitty Chitty Bang Bang—it can drive, swim, and fly. Together with the warm-hearted Truly Scrumptious, the family embarks on an adventurous journey to the Kingdom of Vulgaria, where they must stand up against the child-hating Baron Bomburst. With catchy melodies, including the title song, and a clear message about courage, togetherness, and imagination, the musical delights audiences of all ages. The production by Lara Roth and the musical direction by Tobias Meichsner bring the colorful world of the play to the stage—a tribute to the power of eccentricity and attention to detail.
