Epiphany Concert of the Salzburg Wind Philharmonic
Experience a musical nature experience with works by Beethoven, Haydn, and Smetana. The Salzburg Wind Philharmonic, led by Hansjörg Angerer, will transport you to sonorous landscapes—perfect for the start of the year.
The program takes you on a melodic journey through natural landscapes – from Beethoven's "Pastoral", which captures rural idylls and storm moods, to Haydn's horn-influenced symphony, and Smetana's "Moldau", whose river course is musically illustrated. As a soloist, Benjamin Schmid virtuously interprets works by Wieniawski and Saint-Saëns, including the spirited "Introduction et Rondo capriccioso". Grieg's "Morning Mood" and Sibelius' "Karelia Suite" complete the atmospheric journey, which concludes with lively Viennese waltzes and polkas such as Josef Strauss' "Winterlust", marking a cheerful start to the year. A concert that makes the forces and moods of nature experienceable in masterful sounds.
