Explorer Session – "West Coast Cool"
In the late 1940s, a style emerged that served in many ways as a counterpoint to the fast, powerful playing of Bebop: Cool Jazz. It is characterized by relaxed tempos and a softer sound, and was inspired by classical music. Pioneers of the style include Gerry Mulligan, Gil Evans, John Lewis, and Lee Konitz. Following this, there will be an open jam session.
