Family Concert · Dvořák's 9th Symphony for Kids
The girl Marie & Dvořák's 9th Symphony.
Antonín Dvořák composed his symphony "From the New World" while living in America. It features sounds of new impressions, large cities, and vast landscapes. The Children's Festival brings Dvořák's masterpiece to the stage together with the Salzburg Philharmonic and a team of performers:innents. We follow Marie, who moves from Salzburg to New York and finds it difficult to navigate the hustle and bustle of the big city – until she meets the taxi driver Tony! He introduces her to the "New World" of America. During their little journey full of unfamiliar impressions, the two eventually arrive at the Statue of Liberty, the shining symbol of America and the symbol of the New World, despite detours, traffic jams, and surprising discoveries. In this family concert, the young audience embarks on their own little journey, filled with music, sounds, and images that come alive on stage.
The performance lasts 60 minutes without an intermission.
