Fanny Hensel: Piano Cycle 'The Year' in the Wiener Saal
Experience Fanny Hensel's poetic piano cycle *The Year* – a musical masterpiece full of atmospheric images and panoramas of the seasons. Students of the Mozarteum will interpret the work, complemented by a lecture. Admission is free!
Fanny Hensel, one of the most significant female composers of the 19th century, created with her piano cycle "The Year" a unique work that transforms her trip to Italy into twelve musical miniatures of the months. Each part unfolds its own mood picture – from intimate sounds to virtuosic passages – thus painting a multifaceted panorama of the seasons.
Piano students from the University Mozarteum interpret the work with finely nuanced sound colors and atmospheric density. The performers – including Reina Arai, Eduard Gevorgyan, and Shiori Yamata – present the characterful compositions. The evening is complemented by a lecture from musicologist Beatrix Borchard.
