Fanny Hensel – Piano Trios and String Quartets in Focus
Experience masterful chamber music by Fanny Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Students and musicians of the Mozarteum Orchestra passionately and precisely interpret piano trios and string quartets in the Ferstl Hall.
This concert is dedicated to the chamber music works of Fanny Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, two central figures of the Romantic period. Students of the University Mozarteum as well as members and academicians of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg present a juxtaposition of their compositions, which makes the stylistic diversity, expressiveness, and close musical kinship of the siblings audible.
The program includes Mendelssohn Bartholdy's early string quartet in A minor op. 13 (1827) and his piano trio in C minor op. 66 (1845), as well as Hensel's piano trio in D minor op. 11 (1847) and her string quartet in E flat major (1834). The works reflect common influences, but also show individual compositional styles. Under the musical direction of Roberto González-Monjas, high-profile ensembles will interpret the selected pieces, bringing the unique characteristics of both composers to life.
