Giselle
A timeless ballet about love and forgiveness between reality and the beyond. Experience the poetic production with modern aesthetics and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.
Adolphe Adam's romantic ballet *Giselle* tells the story of the young Giselle, whose love and betrayal lead her into a world between life and death. When she discovers the deception of her beloved, she dies of grief and becomes one of the Wilis—nocturnal spirits based on Heinrich Heine's literary work *Die Willis* (1835). These seductive yet eerie figures ensnare unfaithful men and dance them to their deaths. The work is considered a milestone of romantic ballet, particularly due to its innovative use of pointe work as a poetic means of expression. Chief choreographer Reginaldo Oliveira reinterprets the classic, blending the original atmosphere with a modern aesthetic, designed by set and costume designer Thomas Mika. The musical direction is led by Leslie Suganandarajah with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.
