"Gitti's Sausage Paradise" is a poetic and biting play by the ensemble MANIACIA that unites the contrasts of Salzburg in a mask panopticon. In a fictional sausage stand, star conductors, monks, opera-goers, and homeless people come together—a microcosm where the city shrinks to the size of a counter and oscillates between the "Sound of Music" and Puccini. With expressive masks that both alienate and expose the characters, the play peers behind the baroque facades of the city. Yet the paradise is under threat: a gigantic tunnel project aims to displace the sausage stand. While politics hesitates, unexpected resistance forms at the counter. A humorous yet profound delight about solidarity, the struggle for survival, and the magic of new beginnings.
