Monument Day features a different motto each year, opening up new and often unusual perspectives on Austria's cultural heritage. The Federal Monuments Office selects the respective annual motto.

Monuments: Value for All.

The motto 2026 Monuments: Value for All. makes visible the social, cultural, ecological, and economic added value that monuments have. The motto clarifies that monument protection and preservation are contemporary, dynamic, and future-oriented tasks that are relevant to society as a whole and present in everyday life.

On Heritage Day, the gates of historical sites are opened, which are usually not publicly accessible or only available to a limited extent. Already known monuments are presented in a new perspective through specific themed tours and a special supporting program.
