A moving theater journey of the Hirschfeld family from Hohenems to Izmir, addressing historical and current questions of migration and identity.
The play 'Hirschfeld go to Izmir' by the Walk Dance Theater Hirschfeld follows the journey of Hermann and Karoline Hirschfeld, a Jewish family from Hohenems who emigrated to Izmir in the 19th century. The production, based on research by the theater team led by Aksel Bonfil, addresses themes such as migration and minority life in multicultural Izmir.
