L'amore artigiano
A forgotten musical comedy full of misunderstandings and charm in Italian with German surtitles. Experience Gassmann's masterpiece as a modern production at the Salzburg State Theatre.
“L’amore artigiano” is a rediscovered musical comedy by the unjustly forgotten composer Florian Leopold Gassmann, who worked as a teacher of Antonio Salieri and court conductor in Vienna. Together with Carlo Goldoni, the reformer of Commedia dell’arte, he created this *Dramma giocoso* in 1767 – a turbulent comedy of misunderstandings full of love, jealousy, and slapstick entanglements. Angiolina loves Giannino, who desires Rosina, while Titto also competes for Rosina’s affection. Madame Costanza unsuccessfully tries to confess her love to Giro, but the neighbors interfere and muddle the plans. Only in the finale does everyone find “their match” – entirely in the style of Italian theater tradition.
The musical direction is undertaken by Carlo Benedetto Cimento, accompanied by the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg. The performance will be in Italian with German and English surtitles.
