Lorenz Widauer and Philipp Schiepek: Bangers & Ballads
An evening filled with sonic sophistication and modern jazz: Lorenz Widauer and Philipp Schiepek present explosive grooves and lyrical ballads with their quartet. A must for jazz enthusiasts!
As part of the Jazzit:Residency 2026, Lorenz Widauer and Philipp Schiepek present their project “Bangers & Ballads”. Widauer, a formative trumpeter and composer of the Austrian jazz scene, moves between improvised, contemporary, and transcultural music. Schiepek, an award-winning guitarist, combines technical virtuosity with lyrical depth and influences from jazz, classical, and free improvisation.
The quartet, complemented by bassist Michael Acker and drummer Matheus Jardim, explores the tension between energetic grooves and poetic ballads.
