Not the Messiah – after the cult film 'Life of Brian'
A humorous oratorio by Monty Python that tells the story of Brian, who is mistakenly thought to be the Messiah. Irony meets classical music.
The comedic oratorio "Not the Messiah" is based on the cult film "Life of Brian" by Monty Python and is performed at the Salzburg Landestheater. It tells the humorous story of Brian Cohen, who is mistaken for the Messiah due to misunderstandings and coincidences. With a satirical approach, the work addresses human weaknesses and blind adherence to authority. Musically, it combines catchy melodies with classical organ and choral music, including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." The semi-staged performance places the orchestra and soloists in the spotlight.
