Every year in May, Salzburg becomes a stage for sports enthusiasts from all over the world. Since its premiere in 2004, the Salzburg Marathon has become the largest mass sports event in Salzburg, inspiring participants and visitors alike.

A weekend full of highlights in the city of Mozart

The Salzburg Marathon offers a diverse event program for running enthusiasts, families, visitors, and the curious over three days. The centerpiece is the marathon day on Sunday, when thousands of runners from numerous nations run through the historic old town, past world-famous sights and along the Salzach River.

The start and finish area is centrally located in the old town – with a view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, not only the participants experience an emotional finale, but also the spectators enjoy a special atmosphere. Along the route, music groups, fan zones, and refreshment stations create a lively atmosphere and ensure good service. Additionally, the Sports Mall in the Eisarena Salzburg invites visitors to explore and participate in sports activities.
