The Clempanei – Transalpine Chansons
Poetry and guitar sounds from the Alps: Georg Clementi and Ossy Pardeller serve idiosyncratic chansons with depth, humor, and versatile sounds – from South Tyrol to the big cities.
The songs combine the poetic texts of the award-winning songwriter Clementi with the original guitar sounds of Pardeller – always seasoned with theatrical dramaturgy and fine humor. Clementi's texts are versatile: whether political or personal, he always finds the poetry in the everyday and presents it in standard German, Italian, or the South Tyrolean dialect. The music moves between original compositions and sparse, newly arranged cover songs – for example, by Leonard Cohen – where the two-part vocal harmonies and the sonorous guitar arrangements create a special charm. Sometimes the pieces remind of Element of Crime, sometimes of Jacques Brel, but the duo's own, unmistakable signature remains palpable.
