The Future of the Past: Ensemble Freymut
Experience a musical journey from Bach to Mozart with the Ensemble Freymut. Baroque sounds and classical masterpieces come together in a unique concert full of harmony and history.
The ensemble freymut dedicates itself in this concert to the fascinating connection between Baroque and Classical music. With works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the significant influence of the Bach family on Mozart's music is made tangible.
On the program are, among other pieces, the Trio Sonata in G major BWV 1039 by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Trio Sonata in A minor Fk 49 by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (supplemented by Daniel Serrano), as well as Mozart's 12 Variations in C major on “Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman” KV 265. A special highlight is the world premiere of the Suite pour Madame Levy by composer Daniel Serrano. The work is a tribute to the Berlin salonnière Sara Levy, who passionately collected numerous works by the Bach family. With Ching-Yao Wang and Elisabeth Haberl on the traverso, Maria Viktoria Danneberg on the viola da gamba, and Sobin Jo on the harpsichord, the ensemble demonstrates how music history remains alive and continually unfolds in dialogue between the past and the present.
