The Misanthrope

Experience Molière's timeless satire on the conflict between honesty and social conformity in a captivating production by Jette Steckel.

Molière's 'The Misanthrope' is a timeless satire about social hypocrisy and the conflict between idealism and self-presentation. Alceste, the 'misanthrope', represents radical honesty and despises the lies of the courtly world. The focus is on his relationship with Célimène, a charming widow who masters the social game. Their love reveals Alceste's inner dilemma, as she embodies everything he despises. Molière's comedy raises fundamental questions about honesty and social conformity. Jette Steckel directs the play with a contemporary perspective on the stage.
