You don’t only encounter sacred music in Salzburg in the form of church masses or concert series. Small-though-exquisite festivals combine choral concerts with instrumental recitals and unique performance locations.
“Kirchenmusikalischer Herbst”
Audiences are invited into Salzburg’s churches to attend a variety-filled program of concerts, choral performances as well as presentations of biblical and spiritual texts. Entrance is free.
International Salzburg Organ Concerts
Every year in the summer months, the Franciscan Church in Salzburg's old town becomes the stage for a very special series of concerts. For more than 40 years, internationally renowned organists have played the organs of the Franciscan Church as part of the International Salzburg Organ Concerts. The Marienorgel, built in 1989, is tailor-made for the acoustics of the Franziskanerkirche and is considered by experts and concert-goers to be one of the best organs in Austria. The Heilig-Geist organ in the music gallery is predestined for late Romantic symphonic music and is also used.
