In recent years, an active and modern street-dance scene has developed in the Baroque city of Salzburg. And for more than 10 years, Hip-Hop and House dancers have been showing off their crazy skills in the “Flavourama” battle.
Third-biggest battle in Europe
With participants from 30 nations and more than 2000 visitors, Flavourama is one of the biggest dance battles in Europe. Performers come to Salzburg to see how well their dance skills measure up in the Hip-Hop and House divisions. In each battle, a DJ lays down the music, then contestants have to improvise – or, as they say in the industry, “freestyle”. They are judged by a three-person jury in sudden-death rounds, cutting down the field until a single winner is crowned.
Exciting events program, also for strangers to the hip-hop scene
In addition to exciting head-to-head matchups, the festival also features a full program of side events. Workshops, photo exhibitions and live bands give visitors a great taste of this dance style, even if they’re not necessarily familiar with the world of Hip-Hop.
